Oxygen: breathing life into the EFQM Model 2010
How the new model is being accompanied by tools developed with our members

Oxygen is a vital element to life on Earth.  As an atom, it consists of a nucleus of atomic number 8, surrounded by eight electrons.  Those familiar with these facts from chemistry are struck by the resemblance of the new symbol for the EFQM Model 2010 to the oxygen atom.

To breathe life into the updated Model, we are accompanying the launch of the EFQM Model 2010 with the release of some new tools for assessment, free to our members.  Designed to help you inititate the use of the updated model in your organisation, each is based on practical exprience and developed in collaboration with our members and faculty.

Ricoh/EFQM Pact Project
In 2007, the EFQM Board of Governors developed the concept of PACT Membership.  Leading companies were invited to establish "Pact Projects", forming a partnership to use their collective knowledge, skills and experience to generate new and innovative products and services that would benefit all EFQM Members.  This report has been developed as part of the Ricoh/EFQM Pact Project.
The output of this project will be a series of benchmarking reports, case studies and best practices that will be made available to the membership in a variety of formats.

Evaluating Leadership Across Organisations
This chapter reviews multilevel, organisation-wide and multiple-response data collection as a means of defining and evaluating leadership. This approach provides a rigorous form of leadership evaluation that can ameliorate the disconnected nature of leadership theory and research. We discuss advantages and disadvantages of this process. We call for the development of questionnaires in electronic format if quantitative leadership research is to respond successfully to the demand for this form of data collection.

The Cleaner Production Excellence Model
The Cleaner Production Excellence Model has been created by the SBA in collaboration with FHNW, RSS and with the financial support of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs(SECO). But what is Cleaner Production (CP)? CP is the continuous application of an integrated preventive environmental strategy to processes, products, and services to increase overall efficiency, and reduce risks to humans and the environment.

Defining Performance measurement
Organisations around the world, in the public and private sectors, are struggling with their performance measurement systems. In particular they are finding it difficult to develop cost-effective meaningful measures which drive performance improvement without leading to unanticipated negative consequences. Given all this confusion, a clear definition of performance measurement can play a part in helping managers go in the right direction and focus on what really matters. This article explores this definition.
